What are myths related to mermaid and mermen?
Q. I'm writing a paper about the mythology surrounding mermaids and mermen, but it's a little short on content, and I need more myths to put in it?

A. most ancient civilizations had some form a mermaid, seacreature... babylon oannes(male merman) we all know greek mythology and roman mythology( romans took thier depictions of the gods from the greek so some of modern day depcitions are the 2 melded together) poseidan in greek myhology.. merman with a 3 pointed spear his wife was amphitrite a sea nymph, aphrodite (name means foam -born) was born from sea foam in roman mythology .. venus ran away from the gods and changed into a fish the myths of venus and aphrodite (both associated with the sea and fertiility) became intertwined over the years. sirens were mermaids with with wings who would lure sailors to thier deaths... in western and central africa.. mami wata is a… [cont.]
